My eight year old twin daughters (Kaitie and Mandy) made blueberry muffins for me for breakfast this morning. They were very tasty, but there was something about them that was “off”.

There didn’t seem to be enough blueberries, and they were kind of thick consistency-wise.

As it turns out, they followed the directions on the box perfectly. One egg. 3/4 cup of milk. One can of blueberries.

The only problem is that they made 2 boxes of muffins, and we never explained to them that when you double the mix, you have to double everything else as well.

As a result, the muffins were not exactly as expected…

Although my daughters’ muffins were edible, they weren’t “right”, and my girls were pretty upset about it. I sat them down and explained that it’s through our failures, NOT our successes that we learn. This batch of muffins wasn’t stellar, but in the process of making a mistake, they learned something that they will never forget - when doubling the recipe, you need to double the eggs and the milk as well.

Many of the people I have taught internet marketing to through PortalFeeder or my coaching programs have the wrong mindset from the get-go. They are so afraid of doing things wrong that they never do anything… they just analyze, and analyze, and analyze even more, until they are 100% positive that when they actually take action they will not fail.

Those that do take action and fail tend to give up, quit, or declare that internet marketing doesn’t work.

The problem is, without “learning by doing” experience under their belt, everything they know is nothing more than theory.

Book knowledge is good - it forms the foundation upon which you should build your internet marketing empire. But more important is the constant process of experimenting, failing, and learning from those failures, because that is how you go from knowing the theory behind an internet marketing concept, to fully understanding a concept to the point where you can consistently leverage it to make money.

Embrace your failures, for it is through them that true wisdom is achieved.

Have a great weekend, and Happy Easter!
