Once you’ve written your review and gotten your one-page website indexed in Google, MSN, and Yahoo, it’s time for the next step.
Take your article and break off the first 500 or so words. You may have to rewrite this chunk of text just slightly, in order for it to logically stand on its own, as it will be an article that you will submit to the major article directories.
Be sure to sprinkle some of the main keywords you are using for this niche into this article. Your “resource box” will look like this:
Read the rest of our review of [your product] at [Your Website]
We’re providing content for other people to use on their websites, in exchange for linking to your one-page website. Other webmasters will put your article on their website, but it’s not a complete review of the product - only the first 1/3 - 1/2 of the review. In order to get the rest of the review, the visitor must come to your website, where they will possibly either sign up for your autoresponder, or click through to the product (via your affiliate link.)
I rarely use live examples in my posts here, because I don’t want to convey the impression that you must do things my way. I’ve found that, more often then not, someone I am working with one-on-one will try to emulate my techniques exactly and, failing to get everything “just right”, they tend to not do anything at all. However, I believe that in this case, an example will help flesh out what we’re trying to accomplish here.
In August 2005, a new ebook called The Rich Jerk hit the internet marketing scene. I saw that it was a Clickbank product and bought it and read it. It really was a good ebook, so I decided to promote it. I used exactly the method I’ve been laying out here.
Go to Google and do this search: Click Here
Depending on which server at Google you’re hitting, you’ll get somewhere between 750 and 850 results. I spent perhaps an hour writing the full review, and another 10 minutes submitting the mini version of the article to GoArticles and EzineArticles. Within a week, my article on EzineArticles was the #2 result on Google and Yahoo for the term Rich Jerk. Today, a year later, it’s still on the second page at Google.
So, in exchange for spending about an hour and a half writing a review and submitting it to two article directories, I’ve got a link to my full review on 800 or so websites. My article is still in the top 10-12 for the term Rich Jerk, a year later. And I’ve made about $5,000 in commissions from that one article in the past 11 months.
You know, $5,000 over 11 months is not a windfall, and it’s not guru-level income. But consider that it was 90 minutes worth of work. I’ll take just under $4,000 an hour any day of the week
And the beautiful thing is that you can do it over, and over again.
Take note of my review. I didn’t write a sales letter disguised as a review. I wrote a real review. I even conveyed to the reader that the book was not for everyone, and who should not buy it. I was honest and forthcoming, and even pointed out the negatives to the product. When you do that, the reader is much more apt to trust your review, even when you have a blatant affiliate link in the review.

1Are we still sending PPC to the affiliate or do we switch to the review once that is done?

2We haven’t changed anything yet - we’ve just added the review to the mix.
Make sure your one-page review site is indexed in the Big Three before submitting it to the article directories.

3Marc,
Its a shame that the ezinearticle.com link doesn’t point to the complete article any more, I would have liked to read it all to see how you led into the “call for action”.
Can you post a link to the full article/review/sales letter?

4Hi Peter,
The eZinearticles.com link points to my old blog, on which the full review still exists. The direct link is http://netprofitreport.com/bsblog/2005/08/23/rich-jerk-review-a-study-in-anti-marketing/
